  • After a final crunch I am proud to say:

  • Steam has officially approved the game to be ready to go. This is great news! Until release in 11 days I will add more Shahmeran tips (the woman part of the big ol' snake on the left) and polish the game up until release.

  • Remade the trailer to now show all 5 zones.

 

  • In the hopes of adding Steam achievments I started reading up on how to implement them. Sure would be nice to get that included before release, but it seems a bit complicated haha. Wish me luck.

  • As I am waiting for Steam to review the game I am working on further adjustments:

 

  • Reworking the Item Drop system. Before, when you collected too many items, the drop chance for the next one became quite low.

 

  • Fixds a bug where our lil fella would immediately leave a level again after entering. (Very entertaining, it was as if he said "NOPE" and just went out haha)

 

  • Fixed a bug where sometimes exit doors would stop showing up.

  • After a 40 hour of coding, making art and level after level, the first full 1.0 version of Dungeon Drops is FINISHED!
    It was a long weekend, but I hope you all will enjoy the results.

 

  • The game has been sent to Steam for review and I hope it will get approved. Then the release will be June 18th as planned.

  • The Shadow Realm is finished. Now I will continue with the "Electric Realm". I fear our poor prince will be in for quite a shock.

  • Progress on the game's stages is going wonderfully smoothly. Here you can have a look at the new Shadow stages and the new lamp item making the smoke easier to deal with.

  • For the past week I was quite defeated due to a harsh flu, but as of today I am feeling better and will get back to it. In fact, this is the final stretch for Dungeon Drops.

 

  • Managed to finish the lava levels and with the level framework now set up to implement them more easily I will finish the rest of the stages for the game until Sunday.

 

  • Seeing as every fiery touch will grill our poor prince immediately, a new item has been added: The Anti Fire Potion

    Lava will still instantly kill you, but flames and fiery enemies now "just" hurt you instead, so you won't die immediately, when you've drank this potion.

  • Almost not worth an update as it is some "behind the scenes" boring chores, but I was busy all day creating all the different animations and code for the "level wheel" and how it saves and loads what level you reached for all the 30 stages. Now the fun can begin though with finally adding all these stages :)

 

  • Created the rotating flame block. Look out!

  • Hello friends, I must apologize for the lack of updates this last week. I have been struck down by a harsh cold and couldn't really do much of note, except fixing background traps interacting more nicely.   • Reworked the whole Gameplay Trailer for the game, since the UI and other things changed.

  • So much for quickly "implementing a new door system", but now it is FINALLY done and players are in for a treat. After you reached your goal to unlock the next level you can decide to keep playing and even skip the exit door to get one with a better bonus.
    What a risk.
    What a reward.

  • Implementing a new system on how to finish a level without having to die after reaching the different levels' goal.
    There will be a door that spawns on a block, which you can use, but if you decide to ignore it, eventually other doors will spawn, that might double your Lira or Nazar.

 

  • Door drawing and animating done.

  • I think I have had a nice idea for stages through which people can earn the Items to activate the fruits on the background tree and started implementing it.

 

  • Did some Sprite work on those pesky numberplates for level selection.

  • Revised the block drop algorithm, so it should be way less likely now that a block drops 2 consequtive times in the same "column"

 

  • Fixed my ingame font so the numbers look way more crips now

 

  • I also applied these changes to the Demo and updated the build, it should be more enjoyable to play now

 

  • The lava stages and ideas are coming along nicely. I put stage 8 into the game today.

  • The Demo is now available for download on the Steam page, hooray!!! (Had a lot to do in my "real" job this week and besides that some things to adjust in the steamworks, but I hope people will enjoy the demo and get a nice taste for the full game)

  • Prepared the Steam Upload for my Demo and sent it in for review. I hope it will get greenlit and be playable for everyone on the 28th of April.
    Since I am quite new to all these Steam things it took me several hours to do fill out all the necessary pages and configurations, but I hope everything is in order.

  • Put together a "How to play" screen that shows before loading levels, where you can see what you need to press.

  • Added unique icon for Desktop and Taskbar.

  • Introducing: The fiery fella. He is jumping back and forth between his lil lava pools.

 

  • Noticed, that I accidentally spawned many instances of backgrounds on top of each other this whole time, but got to fix it, improving performance.

  • Added the tea healing item. After rethinking only being able to slowly regenerate tea health with the double tea pot, now sometimes a small tea glass drops to regenerate a small chunk of health.

 

  • Finally added a pause menu.

 

  • Drafted ideas for traps that actually are positioned on the moving background

My website went live today (my very first one, hooray).

I wrote my first entry yesterday actually, as you can see further down.

Today my Steam Page went live and I am very excited that people can now see the first game I plan to publish.
